Wall panelling and a concealed door are created using chevron flooring. A prestigious ADD AWARD was presented for the project realized by a group of St-Petersburgh’s architects.
Architectural and design studio, INT2 Architecture, received a prestigious ADD AWARD 2018 for an interior design of an apartment in a XIX century building in the heart of St-Petersburgh. Coswick hardwood flooring was the floor of choice for this design masterpiece.
Still young in their architectural career, Aleksandr Malinin and Anastasiya Sheveleva, transformed the top floor of the XIX century rental apartment building into a modern-day penthouse. This transformation received second place in an international competition in the category of “Interior Design of a City Apartment 100m2+.”
A truly harmonious living space full of light and warmth was created using the minimalist approach, working with colour and texture: deep tones of wall and ceiling paint, the play of wood texture, tiles, and ceramics.
The attention that was given to the wood texture is what fills the room with life and energy: the light tone of oak hardwood floors in the chevron pattern, trims of birch, and vintage furniture of teak. The designer’s love for wood is delicately displayed by acknowledging all the nuances, and skillfully linking them to create a complete masterpiece.
American Walnut chevron pattern on the wall in the walk-in kitchen, a hardwood corridor, which visually separates the kitchen and the vestibule, the concealed door covered in the same hardwood flooring highlights the minimalistic interior and supports the lightness and the airy feel of the overall design.
The designers behind this project succeeded in skillfully bringing the stylistic balance, highlighting the necessary elements, while allowing the room for the owners to complement it with their intentions.
