When building the single family home, the most difficult task is to create its balanced and consistent image. The image which details do not contradict the general concept. The image where the exterior form is identical to the interior; the image with the excellent impeccability as a main feature. New design project of Alla Koncedailova illustrates the masterful approach to this task.

The strict symmetry of the front, the windows with French layout framed by the discreet stucco, the simple pattern of forging make the house style easily recognizable. Classical style. Believe that the house is new is almost impossible: clear, even lines of a refined and stout house create the feeling of immersion into the beginning of XIX century. One awaits from the house interior a certain elegance and aristocracy attributable to that era. Awaits… and still thinks if it is possible at all. Although the classical style is highly esteemed and respected in design, one can rarely avoid two major difficulties when using it. While following all forms and solutions of the classical style with compulsory antiques in every corner of the house, the designer risks to create the most ostentatious “museum”. At the same time, the overly abundant use of modern materials will logically lead to the sensation of falsity. However, when working on this project, due to the proper selection of applicable elements, styles and “creative re-thinking” of other elements that were less applicable to modern needs, the balance was found.

Some elements in this house are related to the traditional “classical” style: the marble stairs with forged banisters, gilded lamps, the fireplace with the white marble mantelpiece, the furniture with cabriole legs, paintings on the walls. With that, modern materials predefined the whole look and style of the house interior. For instance, the mix of design tiles with hardwood flooring is used instead of the decorative flooring, which would not certainly look good in the apartment. The unusual replacement for tapestry was also found. The ground floor got the decorative stucco with the velvet texture; the bedrooms in private areas are adorned with Dutch wallpapers that resemble the fabric with emblazonment.

The classical interior has a very distinctive feature – the abundance of gilt. The noble color was used in every corner of palace halls. This trick found its place: the gilt can be found everywhere in the living room – on lamps, furniture, and frames. Even the dark, deep color of walls is gilded. However, the fine match of quantity and shades makes the gold color almost invisible; it only creates the sensation of glowing that gives the solemn and festive look to the apartment.

Smart combination of traditional tricks and their modern versions makes the house very in, comfortable, and not showing off the wealth of its owners.

Designer’s (Alla Koncedailova) commentary: Homeowners were definite in their choice: all they wanted was the classical style, cozy, quiet and respectable. Among the whole range of the classical style tools, we have chosen the solutions to match this very interior. The variety of materials and textures, the whole house looks integral, and the space is perceived naturally. Limited use of active color spots – it is but painting and decoration elements mainly – freshens the quite place up. The house interior became the reflection of the inner world of homeowners as people who appreciate the elegance and pay the special attention to details.
